We offer a wide variety of educational programs for both adults and children. Whether you are just beginning your knowledge of the Jewish religion or wish to extend your understanding of our faith. Below are samples of our educational facility.

The Joliet Jewish Congregation boasts a large library filled with items from children's games to a complete Holocaust selection. Included in the library is a collection of videos for the young and no-so-young alike. All items may be checked out and brought home for you to enjoy at your convenience. Please feel free to stop by and see if there isn't something you or your children may enjoy.

Children's Education

Bar/Bat Mitzvah Classes

Enjoy classes both in a group and privately for the required training to become a Bar/Bat Mitzvah.

Religious School

Hebrew and Judaic studies; learn about the Jewish religion etc. Get the religious training inquiring minds want to know. Learn about the Jewish religion through study, prayer, games, arts and crafts.

Adult Education

Basic Judaism

Learn the basics of Jewish principles, practices, beliefs and observances.

Torah Study

Study the religious texts with regard to the surface meaning, allusions or allegories, and midrashic or other lessons that can be found in the text.

Torah and Haftorah Cantillation

Learn the theory and practice of the cantillation (trope) of the Torah and Haftorah.

Hebrew Studies

If you've always wanted to learn to read and write Hebrew this class will guide you on your way. Not only will you feel a sense of accomplishment, but you will enjoy services by allowing you to join in with the rest of the congregation.
